A Word of Encouragement

Greetings Denver Seminary Mentors!
We hope and pray that your mentoring relationship with a Denver Seminary student has created opportunities to see the Spirit of God at work in transformation. In healthy mentoring relationships, mentors benefit as much as mentees (students). May the Lord make this true for you, as you find fresh perspective and encouragement for your own life and ministry through your mentoring conversations.
One of my favorite observations about mentoring comes from Brian Williams in his wonderful (and highly recommended) book on the subject, The Potter’s Rib. He says about mentoring, “We labor on behalf of those whose faces we will never see and whose names we will never hear” (p. 72). That constantly gives me hope and perspective for the modest, low-key work of mentoring. We’re never merely investing in the life of the person in front of us, but also in the lives of the many whom that person will influence. May that give you hope today!
Thanks for your exponential investment in God’s work as a mentor.
