Missional Commitments
In Acts, just prior to his ascension, that last message Jesus tells his disciples is, "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." As Denver Seminary pursues its missional endeavours it is committed to keeping this outward focused kingdom command through several different initiatives and partnerships.
Initiatives
African American: The African-American Initiative (AAI) exists to serve Denver Seminary students who are African-American. AAI facilitates activities, events, courses, discussion groups, media productions and seminars that will assist them in fulfilling their goals and objectives in ministry. AAI desires to promote African-American student participation in all levels of campus life.
Hispanic:The Hispanic Initiatives serve Denver Seminary and the Spanish-speaking community through several programs including: IDEAL (The Institute for the Development and Training of Leaders), Oasis (Training Female Leadership for the Hispanic Church), Against the Flow (A Radio Program for the Global Hispanic Community), and Friends of IDEAL (Building the Future of the Hispanic Church).
Korean: Denver Seminary's Korean Initiatives are led by Dr. Sung Wook Chung and focus on devloping pastoral and lay leadership among Korean Christians in the metro Denver area through the Korean Lifelong Education Initiative (KLEI).
The Vernon Grounds Institute of Public Ethics
Vernon Grounds Institute of Public Ethics provides environments and resources to educate, facilitate and train Seminary students, members of Christian leadership and the Christian community as a whole in the area of social ethics.
Partner Schools
PCTS: In 2008, Denver Seminary partnered with PCTS (Presbyterian College and Theological Seminary) in Seoul, Korea. The partnership provides student and faculty exchanges between the schools and helps promote scholarly discourse to enhance theological education.
SETECA: SETECA (Seminario Teológico Centroamericano) is the largest residence seminary in Latin America, with over a thousand students in its various programs, many of whom come from a number of different countries. Denver Seminary and SETECA partner in several components:
- Denver Seminary is assisting SETECA in the development of a counseling program and library at SETECA
- Adjunct SETECA faculty Wilmer Ramírez is the full-time Director of Hispanic Initiatives at Denver Seminary
- SETECA contributes to the curriculum of Denver Seminary's IDEAL program
- Denver Seminary students can take a class at SETECA in order to fulfill the globalization requirement for their degree
