Graduate Certificate in Biblical and Theological Studies (24 hours)
The graduate certificate in biblical and theological studies was developed for those who want to know more about the Christian faith. It requires twenty hours of theological core courses consisting of BI 501 Effective Biblical Interpretation; NT 511 Understanding the Gospels and Acts; NT 512 Understanding the Epistles and Revelation; OT 511 Understanding Early Israel and Its Wisdom Literature; OT 512 Understanding the Kingdom of Israel and Its Prophets; TH 501 Survey of Christian Doctrine I; and TH 502 Survey of Christian Doctrine II. The remaining four hours of electives may come from any department.
Certificate in Chaplaincy (12 hours)
This certificate requires the following courses: CHP 550 Many Faces of Chaplaincy; CHP 650 Community-Based Clinical Pastoral Education; CO 526 Therapeutic Communication; CO 560 Brief Counseling; and CO 570 Brief Counseling Practicum; and PME 604 Worship Theory & Practice.
Certificate in Christian Apologetics (10 hours)
This certificate requires the following courses: AE 500 Apologetics and Ethics; AE 664 Religious Pluralism; plus four hours of AE electives.
Certificate in Christian Formation & Soul Care (10 hours)
This certificate requires the following courses: CF 501 Biblical and Historical Foundations of Formation and Soul Care; CF 502 Principles and Practices of Christian Formation; CF 511 Dynamics of the Spiritual Journey; CF 513 Practice of Soul Care; and CF 595 and CF 596 Soul Care Practicum I and II.
Certificate in Hispanic Studies (10 Hours)
This certificate requires the following courses: HS 501 Ministry to Hispanic Communities, HS 502 Hispanic Theology and Bible Perspectives, HS 503 Understanding the Hispanic Church Past and Present, HS 504 Leadership Development in the Hispanic Church, and CO 524 Counseling in the Hispanic Church.
Certificate in Messianic Judaism (10 hours)
This certificate requires the following courses: MJ 501 Introduction to Messianic Judaism OR MJ 503 Messianic Jewish Apologetics I, and eight hours of MJ electives.
Certificate in Pastoral Care (12 hours)
This certificate requires the following courses: CO 505 Groups in Counseling; CO 526 Therapeutic Communication; CO 539 Group Experience; CO 540 Issues in Counseling Ministries; CO 560 Brief Counseling; and CO 570 Brief Counseling Practicum.
Certificate in School Counseling (12 hours)
This certificate requires the following courses: CO 506 Introduction to School Counseling; CO 507 Programs in School Counseling; CO 552 Marriage and Family Counseling OR CO 553 Counseling Children OR CO 554 Counseling Adolescents*; CO 785 School Counseling Internship I; and CO 787 School Counseling Internship II.
*Students choosing CO 553 or CO 554 should add a one hour supplement to the course since these are two-hour courses.
