Alumnus Named Department Head

Canyon News reports that alumnus Larry Barnes (MDiv) has been named the head of the Department of Communication Disorders at West Texas A&M University. Dr. Barnes had been serving as interim head of the department since June. “He brings a tremendous amount of expertise to the position and a passion for his field, and I know he will do the department and the university well,” Dr. John Lubker, interim dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences, said. Barnes joined the WTAMU faculty in 2002. He teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses and has numerous publications and research projects to his credit. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Baptist Bible College, a Master of Divinity from Denver Seminary, a Master of Science from WTAMU and his doctorate from Nova Southeastern University.
