Sergei Timchenko serves as president of The Research, Education and Light Center, REALIS, located in the Ukraine. REALIS came into being as a tool for building a communication bridge between the church and society, and in response to the request of several evangelical national leaders from the Ukraine and Russia to build a seminary for Christian leadership training. REALIS offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs, publishes in newspapers, issues a magazine, hosts symposiums, conducts sociological research, manages an electronic library and produces a radio program, all with one goal—helping people to integrate the reality of Christ into the reality of their everyday life. As president, Sergei focuses his efforts on the continued development of REALIS’ activities. Regarding the Seminary’s role in preparing him for leadership, Sergei summarizes, “At the practical level, I was prepared for potential problems and crises in ministry. I am glad that I learned at Denver that Christian leadership requires right relationships, not just right doctrines.”
