Anchor Youth Development Center (AYDC) is a new forming Colorado 501 c 3 non-profit organization. We are in need of two volunteers one male one female to work as life coaches (counselors) for at risk youth. This will be a part time volunteer position with anticipation of becoming a full time paid position in the future. With one-on-one life coaches, AYDC anticipates helping individuals clarify issues, connect with their feeling and thoughts, and deal effectively with problems. AYDC will help individuals achieve their personal goals, and gain greater insight into their lives. This will provide opportunity for the individual to come to a greater understanding of the person that he or she is. AYDC life coaches will assist youth to become more reputable by attending, listening, responding, and teaching individuals how to cope with the problems of life. Life coaches: Feature: Assist youth with making decisions about how to improve their personal lives. Help youth establish priorities, set goals, and construct concrete plans to achieve those goals. As youth then work toward the goals, coaches hold them accountable and help them monitor their progress, including handling setbacks. Skills: Provide structured questions for the assessment of the youth regarding their lives Identify the problem of the youth after assessing the youth’s situation Must poses good listening skills, be able to ask open-ended questions to guide youth in the right direction, rather than simply telling them what to do. Must be patience, confidential, show empathy, be genuine, and the ability to maintain a professional emotional distance from youth. Sets objectives for the youth so that he/she is aware of what is expected to achieve As the youth establishes the plan, life coaches should monitor and guide the youth so that he/she will stick to the plan as much as possible, if not, use the alternatives that was being planned Education: Must possess a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in counseling, Certification in chaplaincy, or life coaching. Goal: To help youth know what to do with their lives. To help youth be able to function well and be mentally and emotionally equipped
