"If we are to be in Christ new creatures, we must show that we are so by having new ways of living in the world.  If we are to follow Christ, it must be in our common way of spending every day.

...And if you will  here stop and ask yourself why you are not as pious as the primitive Christians were, your own heart will tell you that it is neither through ignorance nor inability, but purely because you never thoroughly intended it.

...And when you have this intention to please God in all your actions as the happiest and best thing in the world, you will find in you as great an aversion to everything that is vain and impertinent in common life, whether of business or pleasure, as you now have to anything that is profane."

William Law, A Serious Call to a Devout and Holy Life, pp. 52, 57.
