Denver Seminary Appoints Interim President
- Aug 20, 2008
Denver Seminary's Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the appointment of Pastor Gordon MacDonald to serve as interim president. Pastor MacDonald is a servant of God whose ministry has stretched around the world. He is a gifted speaker, a renowned author and a coveted advisor. As an alumnus of Denver Seminary who was deeply influenced by Chancellor Dr. Vernon C. Grounds, Pastor Gordon MacDonald and his wife Gail, also a gifted and widely read author, have a passion for investing their lives in others and mentoring leaders following the example of Dr. Grounds. Together the MacDonalds have mentored men and women to help develop them into mature and skillful leaders with a heart for our Lord, which is at the heart of Denver Seminary's vision and mission.
Board Chair Bill Ward comments, "From a life of distinguished service, Gordon MacDonald brings vision, wisdom and excitement for ministry. We praise and thank God for this blessing. We look forward with great anticipation to Gordon's leadership during this time at Denver Seminary."
Vernon Grounds also expresses his excitement about the appointment: "I have known Gordon MacDonald from his childhood through his seminary years, his pastorates and his global ministry. What a blessing it will be to have this gifted alumnus as the Seminary's interim president."
We are equally excited to announce that Dr. Randy MacFarland has accepted the appointment of Provost/Dean for Denver Seminary. This is a new position, created for the interim period until the arrival of a president. In this capacity, Dr. MacFarland will have the responsibility for the day-to-day internal operations of the Seminary. The vice presidents of each operating department will report to him. MacDonald and MacFarland will work in partnership respecting the guidance and governance of the Board of Trustees.
To this appointment, Bill Ward adds, "Randy MacFarland is a known and respected leader at Denver Seminary having served capably as VP/Dean. He is a pastor, a teacher, a mentor and a servant with an incredible heart for the Lord. Again, we are praising and thanking God for the blessing of his leadership in our midst. Together, these two men will make a formidable leadership team for this interim period."
Please join Denver Seminary in praying for Gordon MacDonald and Randy MacFarland as they enter these positions of leadership.
