Use What You've Got
Use what I’ve got is an application of asking:
“How can I use what I’ve got?” rather than,
“How can I be what I’m not?”
This does not mean that we can’t grow or change. It means that what I am personally today, and what people and resources I have at any given time, are what I must use. If I don’t learn to use what I’ve got I will always lose the present opportunity while focusing upon a future opportunity.
A SWOT analysis is often used to assess the present. Placing SWOT in a 2x2 matrix can help.
We can never do everything. The Xs indicate where we need to primarily focus, that is, opportunities where we have strengths and threats where we have weaknesses (though there can also be threats to our strengths). We use what we’ve got to work with God on these areas.
