M.A. in Leadership with a Concentration in Worship

What is a Master of Arts in Leadership with a Concentration in Worship?

Worship is more than great music! Do you have a vision for leading worship in a way that is thoroughly biblical, personally engaging, and culturally appropriate? Our worship concentration will give you deeper theological foundations for worship, expose you to the breadth of worship within the Body of Christ, and help you develop cultural sensitivity without chasing fads. The Church definitely needs great musicians and artists, yet, most of all it needs worship leaders who can lead those aesthetic dimensions with a richly tuned biblical understanding of worshiping God. The Worship concentration of our M.A. in Leadership will pull you in just that direction.

All Leadership degrees at Denver Seminary fall under the Division of Christian Ministry. To learn more about this division, watch a video from the Division of Christian Ministry.

The M.A. in Leadership with a concentration in Worship is excellent preparation for goals such as:
  • Worship pastor/leader contexts within a church or parachurch organization

  • Leadership of worship teams (music, art, etc.)

  • Worship leadership in youth or campus ministry contexts

  • Creation or production of worship services for churches, conferences and other special events

Structure

In addition to the required M.A. core classes (32 hours), the Master of Arts in Leadership with a concentration in Worship includes 18 hours of classes specific to leadership and 12 hours of classes specific to worship:

Endorsements for the Worship Concentration

"Worship may be the epicenter of faith, but it has long been neglected in seminary education. Denver Seminary's worship concentration not only puts worship back at the center of Christian practice, but contextualizes that practice in rigorous theological, historical, and cultural investigation."
- Sally Morgenthaler, consultant and author of Worship Evangelism

"I'm so glad Denver Seminary is training worship leaders. Oh, how we need those with a passion for God, a reverence for the holy, a knowledge of their people's need and capacity, and an ability to guide them into adoration, confession, forgiveness, thanksgiving, and Spirit-led response. Lead on!"
- Marshall Shelley, editor in chief of Leadership Journal
