International Students
Denver Seminary is dedicated to equipping international students to think biblically, live faithfully, and lead wisely for a lifetime. The seminary welcomes students from around the world to pursue their master’s degree.
Becoming an international student at Denver Seminary takes place in three steps:
Step 1: The Admissions Process
In addition to all regular application procedures for admission to Denver Seminary, special procedures apply for international students.
English Proficiency
Applicants whose native language is not English must submit official scores from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to the Admissions Office. Denver Seminary’s institutional code for the TOEFL is 4080. The following minimum score requirement for the TOEFL apply:

TOEFL Preparation
Spring International Language Center helps students to obtain the required iBT score. Spring International, an accredited, intensive English program for graduate students, is located near Denver Seminary. It has five 9-week terms each year. Both F-1 and F-2 students are welcome to attend.
Health Insurance
Health insurance is required for all international students and their dependents for the duration of their studies at Denver Seminary. Health insurance and medical care in the U.S. is expensive. While the Seminary offers an insurance plan, students may be able to find a more affordable plan elsewhere. Items required as part of the admissions process:
$45 nonrefundable application processing fee drawn from a U.S. bank or an international money order payable in U.S. dollars.
Completed application for admission including the international supplement of the application questionnaire.
- Christian Testimony
- Four references (One pastoral reference is required. The other three should be pastoral, professional, or personal references. Please do not give to relatives and only request references from people who have known you for one year or longer.
- International Student Organizational Partner Endorsement
- Signed National Association of Evangelicals Statement of Faith
- Divorce Statement (if applicable)
- Spouse’s Statement (if applicable)
- Official transcripts from every college, university or seminary at which you have attempted more than 16 hours of course work or from which you would like consideration of transfer credit toward your program at Denver Seminary. The transcripts must be received by Denver Seminary in a sealed, official envelope from each institution. If not in English, the transcripts must be accompanied by certified English translations.
- Application for Major or Concentration (MDiv applicants not choosing a concentration do not need this form)

OPT
Denver Seminary does not offer international students the option to complete Optional Practical Training upon degree completion. Inquire with an admissions counselor as to the best steps to take in planning for your particular degree program.
Step 2: Receiving your I-20 and Obtaining your Visa
The Visa/I-20 Guide
The Visa/I-20 Guide is designed to assist you in applying for and obtaining your I-20, and includes information about the various documents and forms you will need to complete the process.
Cost of Education
Denver Seminary requires international students to provide verification of funds for the duration of their program of study. To help you gather the required information, use the collection of documents in our I-20 Application Portfolio, which will assist you in the process of applying for and obtaining your I-20. The “Estimated Budget Worksheet” will help you estimate the cost of your education, and the form entitled “Information Required for Issuance of I-20” will provide us with the required information to get started on your I-20.

Step 3: Making the Transition to Campus
The third step, once you have been accepted into a degree program and obtained your I-20 and visa, is to make the transition to Denver Seminary. The international student handbook is specially designed to help make that transition easier. Go to the International Student Handbook.
The Dean of Students Office
The Dean of Students office at Denver Seminary exists to serve students by providing resources and an environment of support in which they can experience meaningful community in order to successfully complete their degree program. The Dean of Students office is located in the Graber Administration Building on the ground floor. Office hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
