Historic Downtown Littleton
Locally, Denver Seminary is blessed with a rich history. Just minutes from campus you will find everything from quaint shops, trendy restaurants and museums, including a Smithsonian affiliate which has two working farms from the 1860’s – 1890’s. Expect about a 20-minute walk along the Platte River to make your way to downtown Littleton. How long you choose to enjoy the town is totally up to you. Aspen Grove Shopping Mall is minutes away going south on Santa Fe, featuring Ann Taylor, Gap, Pier One Imports, restaurants, etc. The Seminary’s neighbor is Hudson Gardens which always boasts of beautiful seasonal flowers and shrubbery bordered by the Platte River walkway. So much to enjoy in just a short distance from campus.
Downtown Denver Walking Tour
Travel by Light Rail or car to downtown Denver. Start your walk at the mile-long 16th Street Mall with renovated stone & brick buildings, outdoor cafes & restaurants, hundreds of shops and several parks. Take your time and enjoy the people-watching and artists and musicians performing along the way.
Explore the historic Larimer Square and Lower Downtown (LoDo) which was Denver’s warehouse district back in the 1870’s to 1940’s. This area centered around a block of Larimer St. houses chic shops, restaurants, Union Station, historic buildings, brew pubs & Coors Baseball Field. Approximately a mile going east you will find our civic center in the heart of downtown. It is a great start to explore numerous points of interest in a 3-square block park. The “must see” spots in this area are the U.S. Mint, the Denver Art Museum and the Colorado State Capitol.
Red Rocks & Morrison
Morrison is located about 30 minutes from downtown Denver and is on the west side of the Hogback rock formations. At the base of Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre, the town is close to the Bandimere Speedway. Morrison is home to several world-class restaurants and shops along the historic Bear Creek Ave and is a great starting point to many trails through the Jefferson County Open Space Parks. Red Rocks itself has trails which are anywhere from 30-minutes in length to approx. 2 hours, depending on your speed and interests.
Boulder
Get to know Denver’s more eclectic cousins approximately 45 minutes - one hour from Denver Seminary by car. Enjoy a free tour of the Celestial Seasonings Tea production plant, including free samples of their sensational teas. Take in the Boulder Pearl Street Mall, a four-block outdoor pedestrian mall with street performers and musicians for all passers by to enjoy. Many annual festivals from Boulder’s diverse community are staged here as well. East and west on the mall shopping and dining continue for your enjoyment. This can be an all-day excursion depending on your interests.
