Research and Development Staff Team Overview The Research and Development Team has the charge of one of the most key elements of Campus Ministry Toolbox. As a ministry geared towards supporting college ministers in their ministry it is critical that we are on the cutting edge of not only getting the best of the best tools into minister’s hands, but also creating our own helpful resources and tools. Purpose of Position The R&D works to make sure that Campus Ministry Toolbox is always moving forward in finding and creating the best materials. You will be the one to have your thumb on the pulse of Campus Ministry as a whole and ensure that your efforts are prioritized to meet the greatest needs of those hoping to reach out to college students, bringing glory to God, and fulfilling the great commission. Range of Positions Within the R&D Team there exist three levels of responsibility as determined by experience: Staff- requires basic skills in R&D and some experience in college ministry (highly recommended but not required) Senior Staff- requires proficient skills in R&D and a minimum of 2 years college ministry experience Director- requires superior skills in R&D and a minimum of 4 years college ministry experience CMT Vision Vision: components 1) a return to Evangelism, Discipleship and Missions/Mobilization (EDM) on campus 2) blessing, catalyzing and synergizing force in campus ministry worldwide, 3) more students mobilized for world evangelization as a result of the tools, strategies, resources of CMT. Vision Statement: Serving the Body of Christ by blessing, catalyzing, and synergizing campus ministries worldwide and providing the best tools, strategies, and resources so that every campus has a community of Christ followers who passionately engage in evangelism, disciple-making, and mobilize students for global missions. Time commitment 35-45 hours a week, depending on weekly schedule, travel and “all hands on deck” events for CMT. Responsibilities 1) Read and Review Books- For many years now men and women have been publishing books in the hopes of passing on knowledge to those hoping to grow in their knowledge, character, and vision for ministry. As a part of your research you will read these books and write reviews for the ones that you feel as though need to make it into the hands of campus ministers (about 2-3 per month). 2) Review EDM Tools- Thankfully, new tools for campus ministry are being produced all of the time (new campus surveys, new ways of sharing the gospel, etc). As a part of your research you will gain a through knowledge of these tools and how they have been successfully (or not successfully) used in college ministry. For those that are finding great success you’ll want to create a review to be posted to the CMT website. 3) Researching Blogs, Magazines, and other forms of contemporary media- In this information age there are numerous ways in which people are passing on their wisdom and experience on to the public. As another part of your research you will be on top of the latest blogs, twitter accounts, magazines, websites, and whatever else you can find to make sure that CMT is able to pass on the gems in the pile of rocks (about 15-20 per week). 4) Write a Blog- CMT doesn’t just want to be a part of passing on the best tools to Campus Ministers; we want to be a part of producing them ourselves. Taking your thoughts/lessons learned from your research (giving credit where it’s due), you will maintain a consistent blog on the CMT website (about 1 entry per week). 5) Producing Articles for Website- There are many experienced College Ministers out there that have a lot of wisdom to share from their particular area of expertise. As a part of your research and development you will find the experts in Greek Ministry, Athletic Ministry, Community Campuses, etc and commission them to write an original article (or release a previously written article) to be posted on our website for the edification of other ministers. 6) Creating Content for Workshops- CMT hopes to take all that we have to offer for college ministry off of the web and bring it into the real world through conferences and workshops. As a part of your development you will take the best of the best of CMT materials and shape it into content that can be expressed in several different 30min to 1 hour workshops (depending on the venue/conference and the special ministry needs that they have). 7) Recruiting- Finding both volunteers and full-time staff that thrive and excel in areas of research and writing will enable this team to thrive in accomplishing its goals.
