PAID YOUTH MINISTRY INTERNSHIP: 15 HRS/WK @ $15/HR
The Central Christian Church of Denver (Disciples of Christ) is searching for a part-time Youth Ministry Director who will encourage our youth ages 12-18 in their spiritual and emotional development, help to disciple them in the Way of Christ, and empower them to discover their God-given gifts and talents. This is an excellent opportunity for a paid “Mentored Learning Experience” through the Denver Seminary Mentoring Program for Practical Ministry Skill Development.
The ideal candidate for this position will be a goal-oriented individual who possesses the following traits: maturity, organization, self-starter capabilities, a warm personality, patience, ability to connect with youth and parents, strong communication skills, motivation, administrative skills, and the ability to meet deadlines. Must have a current clear background check, a valid drivers’ license, and be 21 or older.
Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to: planning and developing weekly youth group activities; leading the youth Sunday school class and participating in worship on Sunday mornings; visiting and connecting with youth outside of regular youth group and church gathering times; organizing, planning and publicizing all special youth events; recruiting volunteers to work with youth; maintaining healthy ministry focused relationships with the parents of our youth; working closely with the Senior Pastor, Children’s Ministry Director and other staff members; and working in collaboration with the Youth Ministry Committee and other lay committees and volunteers.
Central Christian Church is an established Denver congregation celebrating 140 years of ministry in 2013 and now experiencing tremendous growth, especially in the area of families with children and youth. The position of Youth Director is paid at 15 hours per week, with the understanding that some weeks will require more than 15 hours while some weeks will require less. Pay starts at $15 an hour. Hours are Sundays from 8:30am-2:30pm with additional hours as flexible and to be determined.
