Refugee Services Intern at Denver Rescue Mission

Description:

The Denver Rescue Mission is changing lives in the name of Christ by meeting people at their physical and spiritual points of need with the goal of returning them to society as productive, self-sufficient citizens.

Working with family Refugee Services will provide an in-depth look at the difficulties that refugees face when settling within the United States. You will be directly involved with mentoring a refugee family as they settle into their new environment, and will assist them in any way you can. In addition, you will also assist in recruiting other mentors/mentor teams to be placed with additional refugee families throughout Denver. You will act as a liaison between the mission and these teams to ensure that proper interaction is occurring between families and mentor teams. You will be directly involved with interaction with Lutheran Family Services, the partner organization in this endeavor. You will assist in the planning, organizing and development of community relations, as it pertains to this outreach.

Full-time interns (40 hours per week) qualify for a $250 monthly stipend paid directly to an education or loan institution, as well as a $150 monthly stipend. In addition to this you also have an opportunity to live at the Crossing and receive free room and board.
