E-Books

The Denver Seminary Library is working to increase access to e-books for our students. We have two databases that deliver E-books - EBSCO and OverDrive.  Some E-books are only deliverable to your desktop, laptop, or tablet; some to E-Readers; and some to both. Unfortunately, E-books available for advanced study in theology and religion are few but we are committed to searching out these resources for our students. We hope this guide will clear up some of the confusion and make E-book usage a little easier.

In order to adequately serve our students, Denver Seminary E-Books are only available to Denver Seminary Students with a limited checkout of 1 week.

Account Options

Our E-books are currently suppled by two vendors - EBSCO & OverDrive.  Each vendor requires independent accounts and apps for them to function.  Here is a list of accounts and apps you may need:

  • Adobe Account
This account will allow you to access Adobe Digital Editions which work EBSCO and Overdrive epub and pdf formatted books.
  • EBSCO Account
To download EBSCO E-books, it is necessary to set up a free personal EBSCO account. (Note: To access ESBCO from off campus, please refer to the database password list found in the Resources block on Moodle and also on MYDENSEM.)
  • OverDrive Account
No separate account is needed to access OverDrive E-books. You will use your complete library barcode and PIN to create an account at checkout. However, an Adobe account is needed to read Adobe E-books and an Amazon account is needed to download Kindle books.
  • Adobe Digital Editions
Adobe Digital Editions is a reader for epub and pdf formats. Use it to view items on your desktop or laptop. If you use a mobile device, you'll need to install the OverDrive Media Console (OMC) to use with your Adobe account. (OMC is available for download for most devices.  Click here for more information.)
