Kent Mathews Endowed Lectureship in Christian Social Ethics
Tuesday, October 05, 2010, 11:00 AM - 12:45 PM
Location: Denver Seminary Chapel, 6399 South Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, CO US 80120
This year the Vernon Grounds Institute of Public Ethics will focus on the issue of immigration. In addressing this topic, the Institute will endeavor to determine what specific contributions the Christian faith might have to the understanding, and possibly the resolution, of what has been an intractable and burning social issue for a long time.
Thinking Christianly About Immigration
This theme will guide the three main events the Institute will stage throughout the year.
The events begin with the free Kent Mathews Lectureship Series on October 4th and 5th in the Simpson Chapel. Dr. Danny Carroll, Distinguished Professor of Old Testament at Denver Seminary and noted authority on the issue of immigration, will deliver the lectures during the Common Ground Chapel services, beginning at 11 am both days.
Dr. Carroll’s reflections of the theme will be in two parts:
-
"Portraits of People on the Move in the Bible" (October 4)
-
"Can the Bible Help Us Think through Legislation?" (October 5)
The lectures will be followed by a discussion and a Q & A period during the brown bag lunch from 12-12:45 pm in classroom 120. Please RSVP below for the October 5th lecture.
