Tuesday, February 28- How Does a Denver Seminary degree translate to the real world?
Speaker Steve Thompson, Esq - JAMLAC
Hear from Denver Seminary alum Steve Thompson, Executive Director of JAMLAC (Justice and Mercy Aid Clinic). Steve founded JAMLAC as a non-profit law firm, dedicated to serving the abused and impoverished people of Colorado in the Denver area. Hear how Denver Seminary influenced his decision to attend law school and create a non-profit that has become a safe and confidential resource for victims of daily hardship and cruelty.
Founded in 2006, JAMLAC has already made an impact in the community of Denver:
- In 2010, JAMLAC served 667 victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault. Over half of these clients spoke with limited English proficiency, and nearly all were women. Over 50 other clients were served in addition to the domestic violence cases.
- In 2010, 95.7% of JAMLAC’s clients stated that they felt safer after working with the staff on site, and 100% reported that they better understood their legal rights after being served at JAMLAC
- JAMLAC reported a 90% resolution rate for their clients and clients experienced long-term life transformation
Please RSVP online by Tuesday, February 21.
