He must be a self-starter, able to coordinate schedules and share the vision of the church along with those in leadership including the senior pastor. He should be gifted in leadership and administration. He should be organized, able to delegate and clearly communicate.

Christian Education: This will be the Associate Pastor’s primary responsibility. His ultimate goal will be to improve and deepen the spiritual maturity of Christians in our church and better equip them for service. This will be carried out through his leadership and administration in the following areas:

Sunday School:
The associate pastor will oversee the entire Sunday school ministry. He will work along with the Sunday School Superintendent and Christian Education Committee. He will pray for this ministry, review curriculum, train teachers, develop classes as needed and evaluate the ministry. The main focus for Sunday School will be on discipleship and fellowship.

Youth Ministries:
The associate pastor will oversee and give direction to the entire youth ministry. He will recruit and train people to be spiritual leaders for the Junior and Senior High students. Interacting with the students and their families will be important. He will be the hub between ongoing youth ministries in our church that overlap and other youth ministries in the community. The focus for the youth will include worship, discipleship, fellowship, service and outreach.

The associate pastor will help with the administration and leadership (as needed) of other various ministries that are related to Christian Education, including Awana, VBS, Nursery, Small Groups. He will be an active member of the AWANA Steering Committee.

Other Pastoral Duties:
The associate pastor will participate in our worship services (praying, reading Scripture, assisting with communion, preaching once every six to ten weeks) and will be available for other pastoral duties like teaching, visitation, weddings and funerals. He should be comfortable speaking in front of others.
