African Student
Endowed Scholarship Fund
Africa’s tumultuous history and current civil unrest have lead to a high population of AIDS, political and economic instability, and areas of extreme poverty. As a result, most of our African students arrive with few material posessions, often only the suitcase in their hand, exhausted from days of travel to attend Denver Seminary. Thanks to financial support from churches and other ministries, their room and board are often covered, while we try to provide them the maximum amount of scholarship assistance. Often, we don’t have enough aid to match the financial need of these young leaders who desire to attend. As we moved to the new campus, one of our current students was touched by the whole-hearted commitment and yet absolute poverty of a few of our African students. She was blessed with the opportunity to help provide furnishings for the apartments of the African students. Through that experience God began to work in her heart, realizing that her material wealth was given to her both to enjoy and to share. Not long after learning this passion, Denver Seminary invited her and her husband to consider establishing an African Student Endowed Scholarship Fund. To date, others have joined them by supporting this new fund, and churches, alumni and friends are encouraged to do so as well. Today, Denver Seminary has over 1000 students, three of whom are African students. To enable more African students to attend, gifts to endowed scholarship funds like this one are vital for equipping African church leaders.
