Dr. Douglas V. and Lucille I. Birk Scholarship Fund
Dr. Douglas Birk was one of the first employees at Denver Seminary, working from 1950 - 1982. He retired as VP of Business Affairs and was bestowed an honorary Doctor of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary in 2000.
During Dr. Birk's years at the Seminary, enrollment soared from 31 students to nearly 500 students when he retired. Dr. Haddon Robinson, former president of Denver Seminary, said "It was Doug Birk as much as any other person who enabled the seminary to continue." Dr. Birk was the one who, for many years, carried on all the detailed business of administration and maintenance, all while teaching courses in education. Without him, Denver Seminary would not be in the stable position it is today.
Lucille Birk, Doug's wife, was a constant support to him and the Seminary during those years. This scholarship fund was created to honor both of their contributions to the Seminary.
The Dr. Douglas V. and Lucille I. Birk Scholarship Fund is for full-time students who wish to pursue full-time ministy as a pastor.
