Inner-City Endowed Scholarship
In December of 2001, West Side Kings, an association established by devoted pastor Donald Brueschwyler, generously provided the funds for an endowed scholarship that would allow students who have a passion for urban ministry to attend Denver Seminary. Through West Side Kings, this pastor spent countless hours mentoring and sponsoring teenagers from the inner-city to pursue higher education, establishing programs to engage the youth, and working alongside the poor and homeless. He also emphasized the importance of returning to these communities in order to create a multi-ethnic church body that represented the family of God. To remember his vision, the Inner-City Endowed Scholarship Fund was formed enabling students to be equipped in transforming urban communities by being an example of Christ. In order to be considered for this scholarship, each recipient must be a minimum part-time student, must meet academic requirements and must show a need for financial aid. In addition, each student must be planning on working in an inner-city ministry upon graduation. Today, Denver Seminary has over 1000 students, many of whom will make an eternal difference in urban communities. To enable more students to attend, gifts to endowed scholarship funds like this one are vital for equipping urban church and parachurch leaders.
