Student Prayer List

This is a new feature of the Prayer Partners email list. We will feature two specific students each month for whom we invite you to join us in praying.

Irene (Certificate, Christian Formation and Soul Care) is a recent graduate who would appreciate prayer in her new job search -- she is seeking God's will and guidance in finding a new job before June 30th.
Jeremiah (MDiv, Pastoral Counseling) is a student who would appreciate prayer for his continued spiritual development, a job after graduation, and for God to continue to open doors for him.

Advancement, please pray for:

• Our new graduates as some are still praying for God's direction as to where they should serve, while others are beginning new ministry positions which start soon or have already begun.

• Our Seminary Fund which is significantly behind pace to reach its goal. To date we have received $1.3 million toward our $1.8 million goal. Please pray that people will give generously between now and the end of our fiscal year which is June 30.

• Safety as our Vice President of Advancement, Gary Hoag travels to Korea June 6-16 representing the seminary and to Kansas June 17-21 visiting alumni and friends.

• More prayer partners who will pray regularly for the seminary and serve as intercessors on behalf of our students, faculty, staff, administration and board.

Counseling Department, please pray for:

• Pray for the graduating students as they begin to look for jobs in community counseling, chaplaincy, and school counseling.

• Pray for the chaplaincy students who are in the military, especially those who will be moving into their enlisted positions in the coming months.

• Please continue to pray for Nathan Gingrich, son of professors Heather and Fred Gingrich, who continues to struggle with headaches.

• Please pray for Lexi Iverson, daughter of our work study student in the Counseling Division. She is having several health related issues, and doctors need wisdom on how to proceed. Pray that she will recover well from her recent surgery, and that her immune system will be strengthened.

• Please pray for summer travel schedules for students and faculty.

• Please pray for our two new faculty members who will be starting this summer. Pray for smooth transition to the Seminary and for any details they need to complete as they transition out of their current positions. Please pray for God's blessing on them as they begin their teaching positions here at the Seminary.

 Educational Programs, please pray for:

• A smooth transition for our four new faculty members to Denver Seminary.

• Praise for work accomplished on assessment of student learning. Pray for continuing work on assessment of student learning.

• Praise for a safe and very enriching Reformation Tour through Germany and Switzerland.

• Pray for preparation of the final report of the ATS faculty vocation project, overseen by Dr. David Buschart and Dr. Brad Widstrom.

• Pray for Dr. Randy MacFarland's sabbatical this summer.

• Pray for Dr. David Buschart's and Dr. Craig Blomberg's preparations for forthcoming sabbaticals.

• God's strength and peace for Don's wife, Sharon, and her family in the recent death of her sister from cancer. Also, pray for wisdom and direction for Don and Sharon's daughter as she transitions out of college and into the next chapter of her life.

President's Office, please pray for:

• The Holy Spirit's empowerment as Dr. Williford speaks and teaches over the next few months

• Discernment for the board of trustees as they consider various fund raising initiatives

• Wisdom and grace as Dr. Williford serves in his role as president.

• Rest and renewal as the Willifords take time of retreat this summer

Student Housing, please pray for:

• New, incoming residents and placements.

• Community within student housing (especially for new residents and involvement in social activities; roommate conflicts and changes in the roommate placement procedure).

• Volunteer leadership development, especially for a single student leader.

• Restructuring of Apartment Manager job, new hires, and team dynamics.

Brittany is an MDiv student at Denver Seminary who is having surgery on a herniated disk -- her second such surgery in two years. She asks for prayer for a successful surgery, healing, physical and emotional strength, and relief from anxiety over the financial cost of the surgery.
Andrew is an MA student at Denver Seminary who would appreciate prayer for his job search. He recently had an interview with the Denver Teaching Fellows.

Counseling Department, please pray for:

• Fred and Heather Gingrich - both are presenting at the CAPS (Christian Association for Psychological Studies) conference.

• Nathan Gingrich, son of counseling professors' Fred and Heather Gingrich, as he struggles with debilitating headaches that cannot seem to be resolved.

• Jan McCormack - heavy travel and speaking schedule in the coming month.

• The counseling students who will be taking their national exam (NCE - National Counselor Exam) on April 12.

 Educational Programs, please pray for:

• Don Payne speaking at a conference for the Existing Church and Emerging Church in April.

• God's direction regarding the faculty searches for Professor of Leadership, Professor of Counseling, and Professor of Philosophy of Religion.

• The launch of the International Christian Mentoring Network.

• Placement for Spring graduates.

• Dave Buschart would appreciate prayers for continuing work on assessment of student learning.

• Prayer for Don and Sharon Payne's safe travel to Vancouver for their daughter's graduation from college.

• For Don's wife Sharon and her family as one of her sister's seems to be in the final stage of her struggle with cancer.

• The Reformation Tour from April 11-21 - safe travel and enriching connections both within the group and with our Christian heritage.

• Randy MacFarland's trip to New England and speaking engagement at the Conference on Mentoring in Theological Education sponsored by Vision New England and Bethel Seminary of the East on April 26.

• Prayers for the final semester of the faculty vocation project.

• Dr. Demarest's complete healing from his recent back surgery which included removing bone spurs and cartilage near his spine which were causing pain.

Library Services, please pray for:

• Continued recovery for staff member Charlotte Nutter after the removal of cancerous tumor last month and wisdom for the doctors in deciding on a treatment plan for her.

• God's protection for Nadine Ginkel as she travels to NE India this month. Pray also for God's blessing on her work to help set up a library at a Christian school there.

President's Office, please pray for:

• Safety as Dr. and Mrs. Williford travel throughout Europe in April and for national travel as well.

Student Prayer List

Allison (MA Youth and Family Ministries) broke a bone in her leg when her and her friend were knocked down by a fast chairlift while snowboarding. They could not get away from the chair lift in time and it continued to move forward knocking them down. Allison had to have surgery on her leg bone near her ankle and a screw had to be inserted. Allison's prayer request is for healing of her bones and relief from the pain. Also, that her medical bills will be paid.

Luke (MA Biblical Studies), his wife Heather and their two children Ty and Paisley are a young family trying to balance time at work, home and school. Please pray that the family will remain healthy, that the Lord will continue to provide for the family with time and money, and that God would continue to guide them in their service to Him.

Amos (MA Leadership) is an international student at Denver Seminary. His wife, Colette, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005. She has had chemotherapy treatments over the last three years. Amos is trying to maintain his status as a full time student, and he and Colette ask for prayer for healing.
Solomon is a recent student (MA Christian Ministries) who graduated in December 2007. He and his wife ask for prayer for the Lord's guidance, protection and provision as they plan to return to Ethiopia.

Educational programs, please pray for:

• For the past year, Wilmer Ramirez has been commuting to Denver for one week out of each month to lead IDEAL, our educational program for Spanish-speaking pastors and leaders. Our attorneys will file the necessary papers for a change in Wilmer's visa status that will allow him, his wife Vioneth, and their two children to move here to Denver permanently.  Please pray that the legal process goes smoothly and that the new visa status will be obtained within 30 days as planned so that the Ramirez family can move to Denver the first week of January.  Also please pray for a good transition for this family as they pack up over the holidays.  Their daughter Krista Sofia's cancer is in remission, and she and her brother will soon be enrolled in elementary schools in Littleton - a big transition for this entire family who speak English as their second language.

• A smooth transition for Dr. Noelliste and his family;
• A strong beginning for new educational programs: MA in Christian Formation and Soul Care; MA with a major in theology (begins Fall of '08); and a new D.Min. concentration: Leadership in Global Urban Ministry in cooperation with Bakke University
• The implementation of new initiatives in the training and mentoring program;
• God's direction for staff additions in the educational program department.

• Safety as President Williford travels extensively throughout the U.S. this fall.
• God's strong, clear presence and direction as we begin to implement a five-year strategic framework for the seminary.
• Wisdom and direction in the potential purchase of six acres (contiguous and directly south of our current campus) that will allow continued growth.
• Our new students and their families, especially those coming from international locations, as they adjust to seminary life.
