Bereavement Volunteer at Legacy Hospice

Description:

Use compassionate listening skills to help grieving families. You can make a difference to grieving families through compassionate contact. Legacy Hospice provides grief services for 13 months for families after a patient dies. Volunteers will receive training to make telephone calls to check in with families, listen to them, and schedule counseling appointments with licensed mental health professionals if appropriate. Staff will always be available for support and questions. Volunteers will also help mail educational materials regarding grief to families monthly. Volunteers may be asked to provide special support at birthdays, anniversaries or holidays. Your contact with these families helps them during their grieving process and supports them at a very difficult time
