More Resources for the Immigration Debate: Recent Books #2
Feb 14, 2011 by M. Daniel Carroll R. | 0 Comments
This is the second entry on recent books on immigration, both those which are sympathetic to immigrants, especially the undocumented, and those that are not. Two recent books that deserve attention are On the Immorality of Illegal Immigration: A Priest Poses an Alternative Christian View by Father Patrick J. Bascio (Bloomington, IN: AuthorHouse, 2009) and Neighbor: Christian Encounters with “Illegal” Immigration by Ben Daniel (Louisville, KY: Westminster John Knox Press, 2010).
The first, On the Immorality of Illegal Immigration, is written by a Catholic priest. As the title indicates, it is a very negative perspective on the immigrant presence in the United States. Neighbor, on the other hand, is written by a Presbyterian minister and argues for a welcoming attitude toward the newcomers in our midst.
