Putting a Human Face to Immigration

The Senate passed a comprehensive immigration bill a few weeks ago. It has gone to the House of Representatives, where immigration reform faces a stiff challenge from a sector of the Republicans.
What can be lost is that immigration is about people. Today I received notice of a new internet site. I heard about it from Sandy Mercer of Harrisonburg, Virginia. She is a school teacher, and her husband is a pastor of a Baptist church there.
This website has some poignant short video interviews of undocumented immigrants, and these are not limited to Hispanic immigrants. These put a human face to the discussion, taking beyond just the usual political word games and rhetoric.
This is a very good site: http://www.vaisp.com/. Another good site with short video clips is undocumented.tv. There will be film event in Colorado Springs on August 2-3. Short films and panel discussions will provide great opportunities to reflect on immigration biblically and theologically, but also humanly.
