Some Lectures: Immigration, the Violence of God, Urban Ministry

A couple of weeks ago I gave a series of lectures at North Park Theological Seminary in Chicago. The links to all three of the lectures are found below.
The first two lectures were for the annual Lund Old Testament lectures. The two topics were:
- “Once a Stranger, Always a Stranger? Immigration, Assimilation, and the Book of Ruth” – http://covchurch.tv/2013lund-03/
- “Wrestling with the violence of God in Amos – http://covchurch.tv/2013lund-04/.
The third lecture was given as part of the annual Symposium on Theological Interpretation, which happened the following two days at North Park. The topic for this year was “Urban Ministry”. For that, I dealt with insights for urban ministry from the book of Amos – http://covchurch.tv/2013symposium-06/.
I hope that these lectures may be of interest. In them I try to deal both with what the text says and how best to study it for these challenging topics.
