January launches a new set of activities related to Hispanics and immigration. Please go to my faculty page to see the events and traveling that the spring will bring. It is such a privilege to be able to speak to different groups here in Denver, Colorado, and in various parts of the country – in churches, denominational meetings, pastor gatherings, and seminaries – on behalf of mi gente (my people: Hispanics) and immigration reform. I meet the most wonderful people and get to see such inspiring projects and ministries. There may be other events that will be added over the next few months.
Here is the seminary link:
A couple of months ago a book that I co-edited with Dr. Craig Keener, a New Testament professor of Asbury Theological Seminary, a book with the title Global Voices: Reading the Bible in the Majority World (Hendrickson, 2012). It is a collection of contributions from around the world and from minorities, to model the unique and important contributions that different cultures can make to interpreting the Bible. My chapter deals with Hispanic readings of the Old Testament. Here is a short clip about the book, which is available on amazon.com. Because of the lighting, I look a lot older, but at least you will get a sense of the book! http://youtu.be/1UFKnalGN34
