As I shared in the previous blog post, last week I traveled to San Diego, California. I was the plenary speaker on Tuesday night, February 5th, at the annual Evangelical Covenant Church’s MidWinter Conference. My topic was the Bible and immigration.

It was quite a full afternoon and evening. I met with a group of the denomination’s Hispanic pastors (among whom was a couple who had been students of mine in Guatemala!) and had breakfast with some Denver Seminary alumni. After the plenary presentation we had a two-hour question and answer time.

Here is the video of the plenary presentation: http://covchurch.tv/mw2013-carroll/. I begin with a greeting in Spanish (less than a minute) and then give the rest of the 52 minute talk in English. I hope that you find this helpful.

I continue to give interviews. On Wednesday of this week I had an interview of about 40 minutes with a reporter from the Denver Post, the city’s newspaper. The article appears on the front page of Friday’s (February 15th) edition: http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_22592828/colorado-evangelicals-cite-bible-they-embrace-immigrataion-reform

Interest continues to be in how and why evangelicals are interested in immigrants and immigration reform. It is wonderful to be able to share with them that one of the reasons is that in the Bible God exhorts his people to welcome and be gracious to the stranger.
