<title>Chelmsford, MA: Pastor - Associate at Immanuel Church</title>
<description>Immanuel Church in Chelmsford, MA, is seeking a full time ordained or ordainable Associate Pastor. We are an active member of the Conservative Congregational Christian Fellowship (CCCC) and seek a candidate who will ascribe unreservedly to both our local church’s Statement of Faith and that of our denomination. About Our Church Since its inception in 1896, Immanuel has stood for the clear proclamation of the Gospel of Christ in our region, in New England, and throughout the world. A century later, we are a growing church of ~250, holding firmly to the eternal truths of God's word. Still committed to the Great Commission, we are moving ahead with creative, relevant ministries that bring the eternal truths of scripture to this generation. Our Mission Immanuel Church exists to exalt Jesus Christ to the glory of God, making disciples through: -Worship that is in Spirit and in truth; -Instruction that is centered on the preaching and teaching of the Bible; -Fellowship that recognizes our bond as the family of God; -Service that is in response to the great commandments, and -Evangelism that is gospel-centered. Philosophy of Ministry Elder-led: We believe that a biblically-based church is to be led by a plurality of duly qualified, Christ-honoring men called Elders (cf. 1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; Acts 14:23; 20:17; James 5:14). These Elders (which include all ordained Pastors) are the vision casters and spiritual overseers of the local church. Staff-equipped: We believe that a biblically-based church is to have at least one ordained Pastor, and that all ministerial staff are not called to a church for the purpose of leading it, but they are called to serve it by equipping the believers for the work of the ministry (cf. Ephesians 4:11-16). That is, the ministerial staff come alongside of the laity and enable them to identify how God has gifted them for service, while subsequently teaching them how to serve, empowering them to do so. Team-Driven: As the believers are being equipped for service (cf. Ephesians 4:12), they are encouraged to exercise their gifts and skills in the context of various ministries under the supervision of what we call Ministry Teams, which in turn are under the oversight of the Elders. The Position The successful candidate will be a strong proponent of the church’s vision and philosophy of ministry, understanding the role of a Pastor as that of one who is called “to equip the saints for the work of the ministry, for the building up of the body of Christ” (Eph. 4:12). As such, he will have the gifts and skills needed to come alongside of various Ministry Teams and key lay leaders in an effort to enable them to discern their spiritual gifts and employ them in service for Christ and His Church. In consultation with the Ministry Teams and Senior Pastor, the Board of Elders will assign the Associate Pastor to serve with one or two Ministry Teams each year. The intention is not for the Associate to run the programs, though he is encouraged to be hands-on when applicable, but to provide training and theological input, so that the Ministry Teams understand their vision and design programs and ministries accordingly. As a note, we currently have the following Ministry Teams in existence: Children; Youth; Missions; Spiritual Formation and Discipleship; Worship; Deaconess; Women; and Men. Specific Duties The first area of focus will be adult spiritual formation and discipleship. Working in conjunction with the Spiritual Formation and Discipleship Ministry Team, the Associate will equip the Team to embrace the concept of catechesis, which we define as “intentional, systematic instruction in the faith once delivered to the saints.” The Associate will work with the Ministry Team in order to: -Transition our adult education program from an elective-based model to that of a structured educational program. -Develop and implement an intentional approach to Small Groups. We currently have a few small group Bible studies in existence, but we desire a more coherent approach to small group ministries, one that is accessible to every adult at Immanuel, from the questioning skeptic to the seasoned believer. -Assist in the recruitment and training of all teachers and small group leaders. Other Pastoral Duties -Preach 8-12x/year, following the Senior Pastor’s sermon series. -Engage in the regular “routine” of pastoral ministry - hospital and homebound visitation, counseling, wedding, and funerals - as directed by the Board of Elders and Senior Pastor.
Qualifications:
An M.Div. from a fully-accredited, evangelical theological seminary -Ordination by an evangelical body (denomination or local church), or ordainable (preferably by the CCCC) Personal Profile The following is a description of the type of man we believe God is calling to be our Associate Pastor. Personal and Spiritual Attributes: -Faithfully communicates how God is working in his life -Seeks the filling and guidance of the Holy Spirit -Puts his family relationships foremost in priority after his walk with God -Encourages all attendees of Immanuel to discover and use their spiritual gifts -Has a heart for and commitment to proclaiming the Gospel -Effectively communicates biblical truths to a span of listeners from unbelievers to mature Christians Expectations: -Lives out the Great Commission -Encourages discipleship and spiritual growth in all attendees at Immanuel Church -Consistently demonstrate desire to seek after God -Is open to carefully listening to the advice and counsel of spiritual mentors -Is committed to prayer -Supports approaches to corporate worship that draw from the historical traditions of the church and current expressions -Demonstrates positive impact Required Spiritual Gifts and Qualities: -Demonstrates the gifts of preaching/teaching and administration -Actively supports global missions and local evangelism -Has excellent people skills (warm, approachable, patient, good sense of humor) -Demonstrates an understanding of the New England mindset and culture Relation to God, Family, Self, and Others: -Fits all of the criteria for an Elder and Pastor as outlined in Acts 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:1-7; 2 Timothy 4:1-8; and Titus 1:5-9 Theological Distinctives As a CCCC church, we are solidly committed to the basic doctrines of the Christian faith, though we allow for diversity in many areas where Christians have tended to disagree. Please visit our website - www.immanuelchurch.com - to learn more about what we believe to be the Essentials of the Faith. While we do allow for diversity on secondary matters, we do still have theological positions that are required for members and all leaders, including all Pastors.</description>

About Engedi

Engedi Church is a young, passionate and missional community of 800-900 people who are committed to loving and serving God, our neighbors and the world. We preach the gospel, and we do our best to live it out. Since our inception in 2005, Engedi Church’s mission has been to advance the Kingdom revolution of Jesus worldwide. We have identified five core values we believe mark the advance of Jesus’ Kingdom in our midst. Additionally, our community strives to live out five life practices that embody these values (see engedichurch.com).

We believe God’s original dream for creation was to create a community of people who experience complete wholeness of mind, body, emotions and soul in Him, and deep, meaningful and diverse relationships with each other. Jesus began His ministry by announcing He had come to bring good news to the poor, to release the oppressed and to free the imprisoned. He called the experience of these realities living in the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is an ever-expanding reality of those who are experiencing the restoration of what was lost at the Fall – harmony with God, within ourselves and within our relationships – all through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. While full restoration won’t occur until His return, Jesus invites us to both experience and extend restoration in the now. This is why Engedi exists.

Because of the tremendous growth Engedi has experienced over the past four years, Engedi is currently in the process of renovating a former Kmart facility which we anticipate occupying in the fall of 2013. As we continue growing and seeing increasing numbers of people come to know Christ, our hope is to develop both inwardly and outwardly. We will continue to disciple our community in such a way that their lives are centered on the gospel. And flowing out of this inward change, we will continue to help as many people as possible begin to make a difference in our community and world. Our belief is that a spiritually healthy, gospel-centered church should place significant emphasis on making the world a better place.
