Job Description
    
Job Title: Camp Wyoba Cook (could upgrade to Kitchen Manager or Food Service Manager)
Reports To:  Camp Administrator
Compensation Range: Shift Pay $85 - $95 per day based on applicant’s skills and experience; in past years, the Cook worked from mid-June through mid- August and some weekends in August if available.  Approximately 40 through 50 shifts per camping season. 
Benefits:  includes housing at the camp on Casper Mountain and meals when camp is in session.
 
Job Summary/Function:  The Camp Wyoba Cook is responsible for the management of the camp’s food service operations, including menu planning, budgeting, ordering, meal preparation, kitchen cleanliness, kitchen staff training and supervision. 

Description of the Camp:  Camp WYOBA, a rustic Christian camp located on Casper Mountain in Wyoming, operates between Memorial Day and Labor Day running American Baptist youth camps and rental camps. 

Duties and Responsibilities:
•	Weekly menu planning – providing well-balanced, nutritious meals that appeal to the camp group while working within the food budget for the week.  This includes providing appropriate food for Camp Hope, a one week diabetic camp (guidelines &amp; recipes provided by Camp Hope). 
•	Works independently or with the help of an assistant cook – depending on the number of campers registered for the week. Responsible for training and supervision of any kitchen staff.  
•	Orders food and supplies through approved vendors; establishing par levels taking into account upcoming camps and avoiding “crisis buying”.  
•	Determine weekly meal times with the individual Camp Directors; insure that all meals are served to campers on time and properly prepared.
•	Maintain high cleanliness standards for the kitchen and serving areas.  
•	Uses effective communication skills when working with others on the camp staff, Camp Directors, individual campers, and vendors.
•	Perform other duties as needed.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

•	Able to work independently, establish goals, adjust mindset and schedule to changing priorities, and works well as a “team player.”
•	Desire and ability to work in a camp setting; requires good health and stamina to keep up with full camp schedule.  Prior cooking experience at a camp or cooking for large groups (50 -100) preferred.
•	Knowledge of standards of food preparation, serving and kitchen procedures. Prior training and experience as a cook or chef preferred. 
•	Demonstrated ability to run a food service operation.
•	Good character, integrity, able to adapt to changing schedules, enthusiasm, and patience.
