We have also recognized that our neighborhood has experienced rapid growth in the Hispanic population. In 2000 our zip code held 2% Hispanics. By the 2010 census, that numbers soared to 28%. Much of this growth has come by way of second generation Hispanic families. If we are going to be faithful to what God has called us to do in our community, we must address this culture shift.
Littleton, CO: Children's Ministry Director at The Neighborhood Church

The Neighborhood Church Children's Ministry Director The Neighborhood Church is a growing Evangelical Presbyterian Church plant meeting in Dakota Ridge High School (the C-470 and Bowles area in unincorporated Littleton). We launched worship gatherings on April 5, 2009 with a vision to worship among, live with, and serve our neighbors in the name of Christ. God is blessing our work. This is a part-time paid position. Because of our positive connection with Dakota Ridge High School, God has given us an amazing opportunity to minister to families in southwest Littleton. Therefore, we need a creative, gifted person who will lead our ministry to children (from birth through sixth grade) and their families who are involved at TNC but also to those who will be drawn into our faith community. At TNC we value children for who they are today, not just who they may become. Further, we believe that God has called their parent(s) to be their primary teachers. Thus, our children’s ministry seeks to come along side parents in a partnership. We’re looking for a children’s minister who values: Entrepreneurialism: Our current children’s ministry is growing and we need a leader who can creatively, along with the pastors and select parents, implement and lead a long-term vision for a fun, educationally sound, relational, safe, Christ-centered ministry. Organization: We need someone who can take care of details and develop a ministry that includes a team of teachers and leaders who will facilitate our children’s ministry. Growth: Jesus is a transformational Savior. We desire to see our children grow into who God created them to be. Outreach: As a church plant, we are called to reach the families in our neighborhoods. People over programs: We do not envision having a children’s program (the latest and greatest system or idea) so much as a ministry geared to the relational/spiritual needs of the kids in our community. Relationships: We believe that relationships are sacred. Partnership: We believe in seeking to join God where he is already at work. This means partnering with parents and the congregation to equip and help them love our kids. Scripture: We believe God’s word is, among other things, our guide to life here and now and here after. Worship: Jesus’ command for us to love God first is a command to worship. We believe this applies to children as well. Our kids are always welcome in worship and are specifically invited to a worship gathering the first Sunday of the month. This is a paid part-time position (10 hours a week) and will allow the successful candidate to join in an innovative faith community and learn and grow in areas of youth ministry, church planting, and communicating the gospel in creative ways. The position will fulfill the mentoring requirements for Denver Seminary. Both of our pastors, Rev Michael J. Klassen and Dr. Eugene C. Scott, have worked in large multi-staff churches where they have successfully trained and mentored professional staff. They desire to help others called to ministry to learn and grow in real-world experience and ministry skills. Michael J. Klassen graduated from Fuller Theological Seminary with his Masters of Divinity and is an ordained Evangelical Presbyterian pastor. Before being called to church planting, he was Associate Pastor at Lookout Mountain Community Church. He has written several books including Strange Fire, Holy Fire. Eugene C. Scott graduated from Denver Seminary with his Masters of Divinity and from Fuller Seminary with his Doctor of Ministry and is an ordained Evangelical Presbyterian pastor. Before being called to church planting, he served as solo pastor at Covenant Presbyterian Church of the Vail Valley. He has written for Bugle Magazine, Leadership Journal, Group Magazine, and Youthworker Journal. For more information contact Eugene C. Scott at 720.320.1900 or ecscott@tnc3.org and check out our website at www.tnc3.org. Children’s Ministry Job Description: Lead the Children’s Sunday school ministry: Supervise a paid nursery worker. Arrive at 9am on Sunday to help set up. Build relationships with the parents. Develop a team of helpers and teachers for the nursery and elementary age children’s class. Maintain a list of teachers and provide support for them. Teach these classes periodically. Ensure that the nursery and children’s classroom is set up before our worship gathering and picked up after the worship gathering concludes (with all toys cleaned after use). Select age-appropriate curriculum, toys and materials for children. Administrate the children’s worship ministry: Periodically present the kid’s sermon in worship. Help plan and lead monthly worship gathering kids are invited to (during our regular worship time). Help develop and produce children’s worship guide. Maintain a child check-in/attendance safety system. Develop and maintain a vision for the ministry. Keep the website updated pertaining to the ministry.

Englewood, CO: Kindergarten Teacher at The Next Level Church

2011 FIRST:LINK Kindergarten Staff Job Description Church Profile: The Next Level Church (TNLC) is a younger, interdenominational, progressive Christian community that comes from around the Denver metro area. We hope to create a communal, missional, transformational, and holistic faith community that is “together being changed by God to change the world.” Our church is 60% single, 20% married, and 20% married with kids. Our corporate worship gathering is on Tuesday nights, allowing us to create a missional inroad to those more hesitant toward attending traditional Sunday morning churches. About 25% of our community came to faith as adults, and so we view our role on Tuesday nights to be largely “introducing and reintroducing people to God and his church.” Job Profile: FIRST:LINK is the children’s program of TNLC. We provide care and spiritual development for roughly 50 kids a week, from nursery through 5th grade. At the preschool level, we are helping parents impart the first understandings of God and his church to their kids, which will inevitably shape them for a lifetime. We want preschoolers to experience church as a place of love, care, and relationships while learning three foundational truths: God made them, God loves them, and Jesus wants to be their friend forever. In that light, we see our care of kids as literally life changing! As a single service church, it is unfeasible for us to have regular, weekly volunteers to serve our kids. Therefore, we have weekly, paid staff to help us create a more consistent and enhanced classroom experience for preschoolers in three classes: 2s, 3s-4s, or PreK-K. We are currently seeking a new teacher for our PreK-K class. The class size varies from 6-12 kids, and the teacher will be partnered with a weekly volunteer assistant from within the TNLC community. We create teaching, worship, play activities, and crafts for these kids from 7-8:15 during our Tuesday night corporate worship services. All supplies and curriculum are provided by TNLC. Start Date: July 19, 2011 Location: Tuesday nights: Greenwood Community Church, 5600 E. Belleview Ave., Greenwood Village, CO 80111 Supervisor: Lauren Grant, Children’s Director Compensation: $2000/yr (~$15/hr), paid monthly Position Responsibilities 1. Care of Children Tuesday night service responsibilities include oversight of all aspects regarding care of PreK/K children in the classroom. Sign-in of children begins at 6:45 and clean-up of classrooms ends by 8:30. 2. Curriculum Staff prepare and teach a weekly lesson plan based on the curriculum and supplies provided by TNLC. We will be using the First Look curriculum published by the reThink Group. 3. Staff Meetings We will have a 45 minute staff meeting each month to address any kid care needs and to share ideas together about the upcoming month of curriculum. Work Schedule Commitment: We’re looking for a one-school year commitment minimum, beginning August 2011. Weekly: Tuesdays Evenings: 6:45-8:30 Lesson Preparation: ~30 minutes/week Monthly: Preschool Staff Meeting: 45 minute; last Tuesday of the month at 6 PM before TNL Time Off: Staff may take two paid Tuesday nights off per year. Additional unpaid Tuesday nights off may be possible for sickness or for personal needs. Questions and Applications If you have any questions about this position, please contact TNLC Children’s Director Lauren Grant at firstlink@tnl.org or 303-422-3777. To apply for the Pre/K teacher position at TNLC, send an email to Lauren Grant with your thoughts on the following questions: 1. Tell us a bit about your past experience in working with kids – inside and outside of church. 2. Give us a brief version of your faith story – how you came to faith, your church involvement over the years, and any major milestones or growth events in your Christian journey. 3. What teaching and care strengths would you bring to a group of 5 year olds? What are your weaknesses or liabilities in working with this age group? 4. As a child leaves your class, what would you hope they would say to their parents about their time that night? 5. Please provide us with two references that can speak to your abilities to work with children: name, phone, and email.
