Colorado Springs, CO: Local Ministries Intern at New Life Church

Internship Description

Brief:
New Life Church Local Ministries Movement Internship
Colorado Springs, CO
August 2012-April 2013
This internship is for students graduating with an undergraduate degree and are passionate about the local Church, urban development, and community outreach. It is ideal for students who have a desire to pursue a vocation in ministry by engaging culture and loving people. The internship is designed to offer tools, resources, and mentoring that will propel interns into making decisions about the next steps in their lives while supporting local efforts at New Life Church in Colorado Springs, CO. Students seeking to take a "gap year" with full intentions for future graduation will also be considered.

Detailed:
There are 5 components to interning.

These five components exist for the purpose of Glorifying God, Maturing as believers, and Inspiring and supporting each other towards Christ and people.

1. Training- Own Your Calling.

One week of training offsite prior to the start date exists for the sake of working through personal challenges, integrating as a family, and gaining confidence in the Lord. After training and some getting to know the local vision, mission, and purpose, you will strategically take ownership of how you will engage the responsibilities of your role in Local for the duration of the program. This is based on passion, prayer, and people- who you are, where you feel led, and what others affirm about you. You will formulate goals for yourself, the city, and your involvement in Local.

2. Tithe Your Time- Personal Development

More valuable than money is time. There is no better way to honor the Lord with the measure given to you than by developing his greatest prize- yourself. As an intern, you will be required to spend 10% of your workweek developing a personal passion in a way that honors God and reflects his nature and character. You will also go through a personal Identity workshop throughout the year for the purpose of understanding your unique gifts and calling.

3. Serve and Support NLC Local- Love Your People!

Much of your time as an intern will be spent supporting the local fellowship, sustaining current ministry projects locally, and continuing development towards new ways to engage the city with love. This is where you get to really love your people.

4. We Are Family Now-

Being an intern is not like being a hired hand. We are bringing you into our lives, our homes, and our relationships. As an intern, we are relying on you to share the burden for Colorado Springs. One on one meetings, dinner nights, offsite culture experiences, pastoral oversight, and biweekly feedback from you and to you are all part of the way we do family.

5. Replace Yourself, Propel your Calling.

All throughout the program, you will be responsible for researching potential next steps for your life. This will be done in conjunction with your personal Identity development workshop. As the time nears, you will be sending resumes and preparing for the season to come. You are also responsible for replacing your position with a passion filled and Christ centered individual who you feel confident will carry out the heart for loving Colorado Springs in the year to come.

Job Description/positions offered and Qualifications-

Interns must meet qualifications according the position and each intern must have a Bachelor's degree.

There are 6 internship positions available. Every intern will contribute to the overall mission of loving our people. While each intern position contains unique responsibilities, guidelines, and goals, they all also leave freedom for enhancement, expression, and flexibility.

1. Marketing and Communications Guru – This position is for the Social Media and Web presence savvy. You will be responsible for documenting the story God is telling in our city and communicating it to others. Strong written communication skills are a must and marketing experience is preferred.

3. Grant Writer and Resource Investor – This position is held for the purpose of connecting others in the beautiful things God is doing by partnering financially. Fundraising and communication experience preferred.

4. Researcher, Strategist, Connecter – Rather than reinvent the wheel, we like to look to how others do things well and learn from them. This position will involve researching other models of ministry and presenting them to the team as well as taking the lead on partnering with other ministries. Research, presentation, visionary, and communication skills required.

5. Life and Justice Conference Planner – The primary role of this position is to plan and execute a Life and Justice conference. This is for the sake of communicating and connecting others with God’s heart for life and justice. You oversee providing avenues for action both at the conference and throughout the year. Administrative, communication and organizational skills required.

6. Internship Co-Leader - Provides general support to interns and the ministry as well as contributes to next year’s training and oversight. There is potential for a two year internship in this position. Strong leadership, pastoral, and visionary abilities required.
