316 is a New Church Plant affiliated with the Cumberland Presbyterian denomination. Our focus is Celtic Christianity and we meet on Saturdays at 5pm. Our needs in the area of Children/Youth Ministry at present are small but extremely important. We have a pre-schooler and a junior higher to whom we want to offer some rich age appropriate ministry. We are looking for someone who can love on, and teach our 3year old about the Word of God and the Good News of Jesus during children's church.
Englewood, CO: Student Ministry Intern at The Next Level Church

2011 TNL Student Ministry Intern Job Description Start Date: August 1, 2011 Objective: To facilitate the development of community and life change in students at TNLC Location: Greenwood Community Church 5600 E. Belleview Ave., Greenwood Village, CO 80111 Supervisor: Chip Anderson, Teaching Pastor Compensation: $50/week, paid monthly (for roughly 4 hours/week) CHURCH PROFILE The Next Level Church (TNLC) is a younger, interdenominational, progressive Christian community that comes from around the Denver metro area. We hope to create a communal, missional, transformational, and holistic faith community that is “together being changed by God to change the world.” Our church is 60% single, 20% married, and 20% married with kids. Our corporate worship gathering is on Tuesday nights, allowing us to create a missional inroad to those more hesitant toward attending traditional Sunday morning churches. About 25% of our community came to faith as adults, so we view our role on Tuesday nights to include “introducing and reintroducing people to God and his church.” As most of our families are younger, our student population has only recently aged into the middle school years. Our student group is smaller (10-12 kids) and almost exclusively middle school aged (6th-8th grade), although we are open to high school students participating in the student ministry. As a single service church, it is impossible to have the same volunteers serving with our students each week. If our entire student ministry team were made up of volunteers who rotated through a monthly schedule, we would lose the relational consistency that students need. Therefore we are looking for a student ministry intern from outside of the TNL community to work with our students each week. We want that intern to resonate with the beliefs and culture of TNL, but recognize that TNL will not be their primary church home due to the inability to participate in weekly worship gatherings. JOB PROFILE We are looking for a paid intern to partner with another weekly volunteer from TNL in bringing a relational approach to teaching and community-building with students. That intern will report to and be developed by one of the pastors at TNL, but will be given a lot of autonomy in leading discussions and addressing student needs through creative ministry. The current Tuesday night student schedule is as follows: • 6:45-7:00 Casual relational time before worship service • 7:00-7:30 Students sit together in the balcony for worship through music • 7:30-8:15 Student small group learning discussion An ideal candidate for this position is someone who: • demonstrates holistic and passionate maturity in following Jesus • enjoys and relates well with students • comfortably operates in a non-traditional church culture • enjoys creating discussion-based learning environments • evaluates the needs of students and creatively designs ministry to meet them • resonates with the values and beliefs of TNLC (see www.tnl.org/general-info) POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Care of Students Tuesday night service responsibilities include oversight of all aspects regarding care of students. 2. Discussion Preparation Prepare and lead a weekly small-group discussion based on the curriculum and supplies provided by TNLC or by creating a discussion to coincide with the current teaching series on Tuesdays. 3. Student Contacting Midweek interaction with students by phone, email, text, and in-person to check in on them and continue relationship building. 4. Staff Meetings We have a monthly all-staff meeting and the student ministry intern will also check in regularly with their pastoral mentor to address personal and ministry development conversations. WORK SCHEDULE Commitment: We’re looking for a one-school year commitment minimum, beginning August 2011. Weekly: Tuesdays Evenings: 6:45-8:30 Lesson Preparation: ~ 1 hr Student Contacting: ~ 1 hr Monthly: TNL Staff Meeting - 1 hr, time TBD Meeting with Supervisor - To address student ministry issues and pursue intern’s personal development and spiritual care, ~ 1 hr, time TBD Time Off: Two paid Tuesday nights off per year. Additional unpaid Tuesday nights off may be possible for sickness or for personal needs. QUESTIONS AND APPLICATIONS If you have any questions about this position, please contact TNLC Teaching Pastor Chip Anderson at chip@tnl.org or 303-422-3777. To apply for the Student Ministry Internship at TNLC, send an email to Chip Anderson with your thoughts on the following questions: 1. Tell us a bit about your past experience in working with students – inside and outside of church. 2. Give us a brief version of your faith story – how you came to faith, your church involvement over the years, and any major milestones or growth events in your Christian journey. 3. What teaching and care strengths would you bring to students? What are your weaknesses or liabilities in working with this age group? 4. As a student leaves Tuesday nights, what would you hope they would say to their parents about their time that night? 5. Please provide us with two references that can speak to your abilities to work with students: name, phone, and email.
