Why is the Campus Bookstore Closing?
Over the past 5 years, the seminary has seen growth that is stretching our current facilities. As students, you have most likely experienced this lack of space at the student center, especially during lunch hour. While this is a good problem to have, we also acknowledge how frustrating it can be.
Due to this limited space, the seminary is launching a campus expansion campaign, with the purpose of creating better space, more space, and better opportunities for online education. Part of the plan will include an expansion of the student center, creating three times more space and will include comfortable places to meet, study, and relax. This expansion will be happening soon, as early as June 2011.
In the midst of this growth the seminary has seen a shift in how students buy books, with most buying on-line. This has minimized the need for an on-site bookstore. Due to this shift, the Denver Seminary Bookstore will be closing its doors permanently, effective May 14, 2011 and the space held by the bookstore will be used as part of the expanded student center. We have partnered with Christian Book Distributors to develop a virtual bookstore, which can be found here http://denverseminary.christianbook.com/.
Please join us in thanking Follett store manager John Daly and workers Peggy McIntyre and Matt Mallard for their hard work. They have done an outstanding job for Denver Seminary.
