Electronic Databases

The following databases are available for searching in the library. Most are available online; some are on CD-ROMs. If you desire off campus access and are a member of the Seminary community, the Reference Librarian. (Note: Denver Seminary students, faculty and staff may request articles that are not available online through interlibrary loan. Please use the ILL request form.)

Academic Search Premier

Provides full text for more than 3,460 scholarly publications covering academic areas of study including social sciences, humanities, education, computer sciences, engineering, language and linguistics, arts & literature, medical sciences, and ethnic studies. This database is updated on a daily basis. Part of the EBSCOhost package.

ATLARelgion with ATLASerials

*ATLA Religion Database with ATLASerials combines the premier index to journal articles, book reviews, and collections of essays in all fields of religion with ATLA's online collection of major religion and theology journals. The ATLA Religion Database includes more than 537,000 article citations from more than 1,633 journals (518 currently indexed), more than 225,000 essay citations from over 18,700 multi-author works, and more than 494,000 book review citations. This database begins in 1949 although indexing for some journal titles extends back into the nineteenth century. Business Source Premier

Provides full text for over 2,800 scholarly business journals covering management, economics, finance, accounting, international business and much more. This database is updated on a daily basis. Part of the EBSCOhost package.

Catholic Periodical & Literature Index

*Contains over 241,000 records from 190 Roman Catholic periodicals as well as papal documents, church promulgations, and books about the Catholic faith, authored by Catholics or produced by Catholic publishers. Coverage begins in 1981 and continues to the present. Now on the EBSCOhost platform - use EBSCO authentication if searching from off-canpus.)

Christian Periodical Index

*Produced by the Association of Christian Librarians, CPI indexes more than 100 selected publications ranging from education and health, the social sciences and humanities. All major doctrinal positions within evangelical Christianity are represented. Limited to one user at a time. Now on the EBSCOhost platform - use EBSCO authentication if searching from off-canpus.)

Encyclopedia Americana

Contains the complete, updated contents of the 30-volume printed version of the Encyclopedia Americana as well as the complete Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictionary, Tenth Edition, Chronology of World History, and the Dictionary of Science & Technology. On a local CD.

ERIC

ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center, contains more than 1,194,000 records and links to more than 100,000 full-text documents from ERIC.  

Ethics Index

An interdisciplinary resource of journal and essay information in the field of ethics (through 1996). On a local CD.

Fuente Académica

Fuente Académica provides full text (including PDF) for a rapidly growing collection of scholarly Spanish language journals. This multi-disciplinary database offers full text content to many academic areas including business & economics, medical sciences, political science, law, computer science, library & information sciences, literature, linguistics, history, philosophy and theology  

New Testament Abstracts

Covering the years 1988-present, represents scholarly works and specialized studies in New Testament studies.

Old Testament Abstracts

Contains over 12,000 records, representing scholarly works and specialized studies, 1992 to the present. Abstracts, all written in English, cover works from many different languages, including journal articles, monographs, multi-author works, and Festschriften.

Philosopher's Index

*The Philosopher's Index provides indexing and abstracts from books and journals of philosophy and related fields. It covers the areas of ethics, aesthetics, social philosophy, political philosophy, epistemology, and metaphysic logic as well as material on the philosophy of law, religion, science, history, education, and language. PsycARTICLES

*PsycARTICLES, from the American Psychological Association (APA), is a definitive source of full-text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles in psychology. The database contains more than 134,000 articles from 63 journals - 50 published by the APA and its imprint, the Educational Publishing Foundation (EPF) - and 13 from allied organizations. It includes all journal articles, book reviews, letters to the editor, and errata from each journal. PsycINFO

*PsycINFO , from the American Psychological Association (APA), contains nearly 2.4 million citations and summaries of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, all in psychology and related disciplines, dating as far back as the 1800s. 98 percent of the covered material is peer-reviewed. Journal coverage, which spans 1887 to present, includes international material selected from more than 2,200 periodicals in more than 27 languages. Regional Business News

This database provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States. This database is updated on a daily basis. Part of the EBSCOhost package.

Religious & Theological Abstracts

Contains abstracts and citations of articles appearing in periodical literature in the fields of religion and theology covering over 400 journals.

Research in Ministry

Indexes Doctor of Ministry projects from reporting schools of theology accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada. Indexing began in 1981.

South African Theological Bibliography

Bibliographical information on religion and theology in South Africa (through 1995). On a local CD.

Southern Baptist Periodical Index

Indexes to the publications by the Southern Baptist Convention or Affiliate Agencies.

TREN (Theological Research Exchange Network)

Denver Seminary's M.A. Theses and D.Min. Projects are indexed by (and available for purchase from) TREN. The Theological Research Exchange Network (TREN) is a library of over 10,000 theological thesis/dissertation titles representing research from as many as 70 different institutions. Titles may be ordered online through their search and order system. TREN also makes available conference papers from major scholarly societies such as the Evangelical Theological Society.
