Dr. Darrell Bock

Dr. Darrell Bock is Research Professor of New Testament Studies, Professor of Spiritual Development and Culture at Dallas Theological Seminary. He earned a BA at the University of Texas at Austin, a ThM at Dallas Theological Seminary, his PhD at the University of Aberdeen, and postdoctoral study at Tübingen University.
Dr. Bock has earned international recognition as a Humboldt Scholar (Tübingen University in Germany) and for his work in Luke-Acts and in Jesus’ examination before the Jews. He was president of the Evangelical Theological Society (ETS) for 2000–2001, and serves as corresponding editor at large for Christianity Today. His articles appear in leading journals and periodicals, including many secular publications such as the Los Angeles Times and the Dallas Morning News. He has been a New York Times best-selling author in nonfiction, and is elder emeritus at Trinity Fellowship Church in Dallas.
He has written over twenty books ranging from full commentaries on Luke and Acts to specialized academic monographs about Jesus. He also has written opinion page pieces for numerous publications, and has been interviewed on ABC News, NBC Today Show, NBC Nightly News, and Dateline, ABC Good Morning America, 20/20, CNN, Anderson Cooper 360, The O'Reilly Factor, Mad Money, Scarborough Country, CNN Daytime, Ted Koppel's Special on the Jesus Tomb: A Critical Look, NPR News, the BBC, and the Australian Broadcasting Company. His book, Breaking the Da Vinci Code made the New York Times Best Seller List in non-fiction in 2004. He is an Editor-at-Large for Christianity Today and a Past President of the Evangelical Theological Society (2000-2001). He has been married to Sally for over thirty years and has three grown children and two grandchildren.
