Rocky Mountain College of Art + Design is a private, accredited, four year institute of higher learning offering Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degrees in a variety of creative disciplines. We are located in Lakewood, CO.
POSITION TITLE: Counselor, Alcohol + Drug Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Campus Services
REPORTS DIRECTLY TO: Counselor
BASIC PURPOSE: Provides counseling services to students. Specializes in providing alcohol and substance use/abuse counseling. Designs and directs the College's alcohol and drug educational efforts which creates a campus climate that supports healthy alcohol/drug choices in support of the mission of the College.
DUTIES
1. Works with a variety of departments and individuals on campus to identify and address alcohol/drug issues. Provides alcohol and drug counseling, education, prevention, and early intervention.
2. Provides general personal counseling services to the overall student population.
3. Works collaboratively with staff and faculty in promoting and offering wellness education outreach programs.
4. Designs, coordinates, and implements an alcohol and drug education program to meet education and prevention goals.
5. Provides assessment, short-term counseling, and referral for substance use related problems.
6. Develops and facilitates specialized therapy/support groups.
7. Develops alcohol and drug-related training and educational materials. Provides substance abuse training for student ambassadors, staff, and faculty.
8. Participates in planning and implementation of inter-departmental and college programs such as new student and faculty orientation programs.
9. Maintains appropriate records, files, and all correspondence meeting the accepted standard of care, per licensure requirements.
10. Coordinates research and surveys on alcohol and other drug issues on campus.
11. Participates in ongoing professional development, including involvement with the Coalition of Campus Alcohol and Drug Educators (CADE).
12. Performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be willing to contribute actively to the mission of the College
- Masters Degree required, applicable current license with the state of Colorado
- Prior experience in a college environment preferred
- Certification in alcohol and drug counseling preferred
- Experience counseling men and an interest in men's issues is preferred
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality according to license requirements
- Carries comprehensive malpractice insurance
