Spouse and Family Care and Support
Spouses and Children...Welcome to the Denver Seminary Family!
Entering a second career or launching out for the first time...packing up a home...leaving family and friends behind...locating new physicians and schools and babysitters...meeting new neighbors and finding a church family...transitioning to seminary life can be stressful on families.
We want your entire family to feel as involved in our community as you do as a student -- and we value their spiritual growth as much as yours.
Our mentoring program for spouses networks them with a mature believer who will be a "listening ear." Spouses are also encouraged to audit seminary courses.
And you're both cordially invited to our PiM3 (Partners in Ministry 3) ministry events, including formal dinners, bring-the-kids picnics and hiking trips, as well as seminars addressing marriage, ministry, and parenting issues.
Our admissions department will gladly supply you with lists of realtors, area schools for your children, local churches, employment agencies and internship opportunities, banks and other service organizations -- as well as recommendations for terrific local restaurants, shops, and entertainment options for the entire family.
If you're concerned with finding part- or full-time work in the area, downtown Denver is home to several Fortune 1000 companies. Denver is named to Fortune Magazine's "Annual Top Cities for Business" list, commending the Denver metropolitan area for its strong business environment, caliber of the workforce, and quality of life.
"We first toured the campus with a student and his family -- and chose Denver because everyone on staff knew our guide's little daughter. They even had her drawings in their offices! When I went to the hospital in the middle of the night to give birth to our daughter, all we had to do to find a babysitter was to look to see whose light was on. I can knock on any door for anything. All our kids play together. It's been wonderful living on campus." Spouse of recent M.Div. student
"I was making $80,000 in Kansas as a banker when God called me into the ministry. We fell in love with Denver Seminary. Everyone was incredibly friendly, from the president to the students. I was concerned about my wife feeling isolated -- but she just loved Denver Seminary, especially being in student housing and the mentoring program for spouses. Our children had friends from Scotland, Korea, Canada, and Africa -- and they were in one of the best elementary schools in the state of Colorado." Jeff Nikkel, (M.Div. Youth and Family Ministries '04) Wichita, KS
