A. JOB SUMMARY
This leader must demonstrate the ability to express vision for the future of The Rock of Southwest Children’s Ministry and be a gifted leader with vision for reaching and discipling children. The leader must have the ability to recruit, train, direct, evaluate and develop a core of volunteers and must be a contagious communicator who can inspire volunteer and staff teams. The leader must be able to engage parents in children’s ministry. Finally, the ideal candidate will have an education background and an understanding of how children grow spiritually.
Reports to: Executive Pastor
B. PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
1.Be a professing, growing, committed Christian.
2.Have an evangelical orientation in theology, being in full agreement with the church's
doctrinal statement and denominational affiliation.
3.Be a Member, or willing to become a Member, of the Rock of Southwest.
4.A Bachelor’s degree in a field related to Education and/or Children’s Ministry or 3 years in a key leadership position in a large Children’s Ministry is required.
5.Have a capacity for working with and developing skills of lay leaders in Children’s ministry.
6.Proven experience in a multi-staff, multi-service environment.
7.A track record of recruiting, training and retaining a volunteer staff of adults.
8.A passion to relevantly reach and disciple children to passionately pursue Jesus.
9.Strong organizational, time-management, and problem solving skills.
10.A creative team player able to think outside the box.
11.Position requires a full time presence in the office Monday through Thursday (actual hours can be negotiated), Wednesday nights and Sunday.
C. DISTINCTIVE MINISTERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Communicate a compelling vision for Children’s Ministries
2.Coordinate all Children’s Ministry activities, including Sunday and mid-week
classes and Vacation Bible School
3.Oversee and lead the Children’s Ministries Staff, volunteer and paid
4.Develop a network of spiritually gifted volunteers who can reach and disciple children toward spiritual maturity
5.To establish and maintain relationships with children and their parents both on and off the campus.
6.To design and implement an on-going follow-up program.
7.Meet regularly with the Executive Pastor
8.Responsible for Children’s Ministry budget and financial oversight.
9.Serve as a Staff Representative for the Children’s Department.
