Bucket List...Check

Shortly after my arrival to Colorado I added a new item to my bucket list. I set a goal of spending a night in a snow cave on an exposed ridge above tree line. Well, I am pleased to be able to check that item off the list. A window on some good weather opened up and it was a mad dash to La Plata to take advantage of this gift.

Inside Hotel La Plata and about 10 feet in the snow drift. The inside temp is a balmy 32 degrees. During the night, the outside temp was below zero with strong winds. Inside it was quiet and toasty. |

It was a great two days of climbing. My legs were tired for a few days, but what joy it was to push the body.
