I spent the night at the Stevens Gulch Trailhead and started hiking at 5:30 a.m. There was lots of thunder during the night and some snow.

My Denver Seminary bottle on the top of Grays @ 14,270 feet. A few seconds after I took this photo a gust of wind blew my bottle off the pack. I last saw my bottle tumbling out of control down the face of the mountain. I briefly thought of yelling, "Wilson!!!" as I lost my bottled friend. Perhaps another hiker will find the bottle when the snow melts or an archeologist in a 1,000 years.

On top of Torreys @ 14,267 feet but failing to showcase my DenSem bottle; much like Nathan Lamb last week on Mt. Evans, though I have an excuse.

This was a very fun trip. It is still summer and I found myself walking in snow drifts up to my knees. A few hours later I was back in Denver cutting my grass in a pair of shorts. Colorado is a an amazing place.

Robert,
Great pictures. I climbed Grays and Torreys in August of 2002 and had a similar experience. What everyone said would be a walk in the park was exhausting as I waded through knee-deep to thigh-deep snow. Glad you made it there and out safely. We gotta do a 14er together. I have done 8 or 10 of them. God's creation looks bigger from up there. The views are great in pictures and even better when you are up there.

All right you all, I just discovered this blog. I finished my final 14'er of the Collegiate Peaks July 31 (Missouri Mt), but I didn't know about the Denver Sem. bottle. So where do i get one? And I think a number of us ought to do a 14er together. Just make sure we each have a different color bottle, and we can model biblical diversity on the summit, you know. Not deep theology, high theology.

Gary,

I am ready to rock - pun intended. I am just getting started on these 14ers and have a ways to go, so I have a real interest in hammering away.

Dennis,

Send me an email and I will get a DenSem bottle in your hands. My preference will be to deliver it to you at a trailhead of your choice. You can reach me at robert.jones@denverseminary.edu.

Dennis,
A water bottle is in the mail. I know where you live. And let me know when you are coming back to Colorado and we will climb one: you, Robert and me!

Robert,
I will take care of Dennis, he's one of our supporters and he and I have already connected.
