Pastor of Young Adults


1. Accountability: To the Elder Board and Senior Pastor

2. Primary Pastoral Objective: Attract, Assimilate and Disciple Young Adults

3. Assimilation and Christian Education Responsibilities:
a. Assist in leading the young adult ABF Sunday School class
b. Facilitate other special learning experiences, seminars, etc. for the young adult demographic
c. Develop a young adult Bible study small group ministry and lead groups as necessary
d. Develop general strategies for outreach to young adults
e. Envision and facilitate events for young adults
f. Help facilitate men’s ministries for men of all ages
g. Provide support to youth ministries by utilizing personal gift set in conjunction with volunteer youth staff and the Youth Ministries Coordinator

4. Worship Responsibilities:
a. Participate in worship services including worship service planning according to giftedness
b. Leverage technical skills to monitor and expand church social media presence
c. Leverage technical skills to enhance the worship service experience (i.e, video streaming, projection and other worship technical support) that may appeal to young adult worshippers.

5. General Pastoral Responsibilities:
a. Preach at public services as assigned by the senior pastor or elders.
b. Assist with congregation visitation
c. Assist with communion, funerals, weddings and other public event-based pastoral duties
d. Provide counseling, as needed and as appropriately trained, particularly for the young adult demographic
e. In conjunction with the TRF Ministerial Association, participate in devotional radio broadcasts, nursing home services, and other activities.
f. Maintain “acquaintance-level” relationships with the congregation at large (people of all ages)
g. Assist with various administrative duties shared by pastoral staff in the office or off-site
h. Reporting: Submit an annual written ministry report at the annual business meeting of the church. Submit a report (written or verbal) at each Elder Board meeting.
i. Attend Elder Board, Congregational and other Commission meetings.
j. Other pastoral duties as required, including supporting and filling in for other pastoral staff when needs arise.

6. Educational/Experiential Requirements and Skills:
a. Master-level seminary degree strongly preferred but related bachelor-level degree will be considered.
b. Past internship and/or other past professional pastoral experience required, including highly effective and successful ministry with the young adult demographic
c. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
d. Effective and proven discipleship skills, both with individuals and at small group levels
e. Competent and experienced in both preaching and teaching
f. Excellent time management and organizational abilities
g. Strong leadership and influencing skills
h. Knowledge of counseling methods that incorporate a Biblical worldview combined with a problem-solving focus
i. Strong testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as well as a vibrant ongoing daily and fruitful walk with Jesus Christ
j. Able to relate effectively to individuals in the 20-35 age range.
